چکیده
A case of so-called Japanese cerebrovascular disease in association with intracerebral haematoma is presented. The patient had had no neurological symptoms before the onset, in spite of an extensive intracranial occlusive vascular process. Diagnosis was established preoperatively and massive haematoma was surgically evacuated from the left frontal lobe. The postoperative course was uneventful and residual neurological deficit was minimal.

Intracerebral haemorrhage after the neonatal period.
Intracerebral haemorrhage is rare in childhood. We have reviewed the last 10 years' experience, in our referral area, of parenchymatous intracerebral haemorrhage in children from 1 month to 16 years of age. There were 27 cases, five of which were intracerebellar and two predominantly intraventricular. The commonest aetiology was vascular malformation (10), followed by haemorrhage into tumour (f...

A middle-aged woman was admitted to hospital after a motor vehicle accident. A large acute intracranial haematoma was initially thought to be traumatic in origin, but its unusual position and the lack of external features of head trauma prompted investigation for other causes of intracerebral haemorrhage. Moyamoya intracranial vascular abnormalities were diagnosed. We discuss the presentation o...

Twenty-one out of 7,866 head injuries were complicated by the development of delayed intracerebral haematomata. The age distribution of patients with this condition closely resembled that of patients with subdural haematomata and differed sharply from patients with extradural haemorrhage. This finding, combined with the fact that the two conditions often coexisted, suggests the possibility of s...

Deep intracerebral (basal ganglia) haematomas were found post mortem in 63 of 635 fatal non-missile head injuries. In patients with a basal ganglia haematoma, contusions were more severe, there was a reduced incidence of a lucid interval, and there was an increased incidence of road traffic accidents, gliding contusions and diffuse axonal injury than in patients without this type of haematoma. ...
